Make a Christmas Tree from Hearts

Did you know you can use hearts to make a Christmas tree?  Here's an easy way to do it!

Supplies:

1)  Print or trace the hearts onto construction paper.  Glue the hearts together to form a tree.  Add a rectangle trunk from construction paper.

2)  To decorate the tree, add sequins, pom poms, stickers, buttons, etc.

Review Game: Letter Erase

Early in the week, I shared an easy letter review game to play outside.  This little review game is easily played inside!

Supplies
Whiteboard or chalkboard
Dry erase pen or chalk
Eraser

1)  Write the letters to review on the board.

2)  Say the letter sound or name (whichever you're practicing).  Have your child find it and erase it!

This can be easily modified to include numbers, colors, shapes, sight words, etc.!

It seems like such a simple idea...but my girls like it!  There is something about erasing that's fun, I guess!

Alphabet Review: Outdoor Bean Bag Toss

With the increase of beautiful days around here, we've been enjoying the outdoors!  Sometimes we'll do a simple learning activity, and this is one of them!  (Please excuse the photos - our pink chalk didn't show up very brightly!  I hope you can get the general idea!)

Supplies:
Sidewalk chalk
Beanbag (here's the one we made yesterday) or small rock

1)  With sidewalk chalk, draw a grid with the letters you'd like to practice.

2)  Toss the beanbag.  Wherever it lands, make the sound of that letter.  Repeat!

This idea can be easily adapted!  Use it to review numbers, colors, shapes, or spelling words!

Cereal Box "Workbook"

It seems crazy to me, but my girls love workbooks.  One daughter even asked for a workbook for Christmas (she got it and loved it)!  So, I had this idea to reuse packaging to make a special "workbook" for them.

You need:
Packages (from foods, toys, etc.)
Hole punch
Metal rings

1)  Save and cut panels from various packages.  Hole punch and clip together with metal rings.

2)  Use the "workbook" to search for letters, colors, shapes, or words.  We searched for each letter in our names.  The blank sides can be used for writing and drawing.

It's not the most beautiful workbook, but it's a fun way to reuse some packages and expose your child to environmental print!
