Tasty Tuesday: Vincent Van Gogh-Inspired Sunflower Cake

I have wanted to make this cake for so long!  It fits perfectly with our sunflower theme and yesterday's post about Vincent Van Gogh!  I'm not going to go into the steps of how to make the cake, because you can go to Family Fun and find the directions already written!

Here are a few things I did differently for my cake:  I could not find Necco Wafers, so I used Sweetarts.  I  couldn't find the fruit lace, so I cut green gummy bears in half and used those!  I also microwaved the Starburst for just four seconds (instead of eight).  I had trouble with them being too sticky if I left them in the microwave that long.

I am so happy with how it turned out, and I can't wait to share it with my friend, Tami, for her birthday!!

Thanks for the compliment on my mini book in a tin, I know for certain you're patient enough to make one of your own because of this cake! It's amazing and looks pretty time consuming even if steps like applying the gummy bears is pretty easy.

Hi! I made this cake a few years ago for my mom's birthday. I found the Necco Wafers at Dollar Tree...just in case you ever want them (: They are thinner and break apart, so you can do the mosiac pot easier. But circles work too!

Thanks, Selena! I was wondering where to find them -- I looked all over town and didn't see any. I was a little bummed, because I like how they look.
