Family Traditions: My 28-Year-Old Ornament

It may not look like much, but this ornament holds special value to me!

In 1982, I made this ornament in Kindergarten, and it has hung on our family tree for the past 28 years!  About five or so years ago, the cone was broken and half-gone, so my mom "fixed" it and glued on another cone.

And amazingly, she continues to hang it up each year (even though it is a family joke at this point)!  And you know what?  It really means so much to me.

I know it's not beautiful.

But I made it.  And when I remember and think about the time in my life when I made it, the memories are precious.  And even though it is something so silly, I am grateful my mom has given me this gift.

My brother and sisters have ornaments on the tree as well, and it is fun to reminisce as we hang up the ornaments.  Do you have any ornaments left from your childhood?

Love it! :) That is a great memory...and so sweet that your mom tried to fix it too.

I posted the one that I made and it makes me smile seeing it every year.
